Tunesmith Tuesday - Avenue Q's "Schadenfreude"

In 2004, the Broadway musical Wicked was all the rage. Everybody wanted to see the "untold" story of L. Frank Baum's The Wizard of Oz. As tremendously popular as it was, the show lost the Tony Award for Best Musical (and Best Original Score, and Best Book of a Musical) to Avenue Q, which is best described as, "Sesame Street for Grown-Ups"

All of the characters (human and muppet) are young adults, searching for their "purpose" in life, and facing real-world adult problems with uncertain outcomes, as opposed to the simplistic problems and invariably happy resolutions faced by characters on children's television programming.

Songs include, "It Sucks to Be You", "What Do You Do With a B.A. in English?", "If You Were Gay", "The Internet is For Porn", and this week's featured tune, "Schadenfreude"
