Flow arts, Poi, Raves, and the Backpack

Son Jack has gotten into a performance art called "Flowing", or "Poi."

Popular at raves and music festivals, "Poi" refers to both the art itself and the equipment used for engaging in the art. It involves swinging tethered weights through a variety of rhythmical and geometric patterns.  Poi artists may also sing or dance while swinging their poi.

Poi originated with the Maori of New Zealand, and can be made from various materials with different handles, weights, and effects (such as lights or fire).
